North Pres News -16 June 2016

cropped-cropped-Rangitoto-Flower-546406ad_site_icon2.pngI’m afraid it is always busy in your mail box the week leading to the presbytery meeting! Lots to read and many dates to mark in your calendars.

The Presbytery Council has approved the Commissioners to General Assembly so now we just wait until we hear what to do next as far as the registration process goes. We will let the Commissioners know as soon as we know.

If your parish has recently got a new Presbytery Elder (since the last presbytery meeting in February), please let me know as the Moderator would like to formally welcome them to the presbytery at the Winter Presbytery meeting.

Did any Presbyterians in your parishes receive a Queen’s Birthday Honour this year? Please let Wayne Matheson, AES know at wayne@presbyterian.org.nz Thank you!

Lastly, a little bit further into the future, but do SAVE the DATE for the CROSSWIND –Regional Prayer & Healing Service on Sunday 24th July, 7pm at Ellerslie/Mt Wellington –St Peter’s Presbyterian Church. It is a prayer and healing service… but much more than that… It will be again a time for people to come and encounter Jesus Christ -by the Holy Spirit, in worship, the gospel preached and in prayer and healing. Crosswind is based on John 3:7-8 and it is our hope that people might encounter the life giving wind of the Holy Spirit. Do encourage your parish to come along. Perhaps plan to have your regular Sunday evening gathering together with others from all over the presbytery instead?

Parishes also, remember that the date for sending in the nominations for GA 2016 Commissioners for your group is approaching rapidly. We need these names by Monday 16th May… that is this coming week. Each group is responsible for working out among yourselves, who will attend. It may not mean someone from every parish, it may mean several from one parish depending on who is able and available and what your group agrees to. Discuss this with the other parishes in your group and then inform the Presbytery Clerk of your decision as soon as possible. Thank you to the groups who have already done this. Very much appreciated.

THIS Sunday is the Regional Prayer & Healing Service –Pentecost Gathering, the first for this year, 7pm at Greyfriars Church, 544 Mt Eden Rd. Have you thought of carpooling from your own church? Enjoy the company of friends on your way to this time of worship, prayer & ministry.
