WHEN THE MEN VOTED  – a re-enactment of the debate of the 1961 General Assembly

In this year when we celebrate the 50th anniversary of the ordination of the first woman to be ordained to the ministry of Word and sacrament in the Presbyterian Church of New Zealand. Northern Presbytery, (along with the PI Synod Presbytery, Te Aka Puaho and Kaimai Presbytery) looks at how the men made the decision to change the status quo.  This is about when the men of the church took this action to recognise that people are called to ministry regardless of gender.

Members of the other Presbyteries are especially welcome to attend as are all our retired ministers and elders. We welcome any input from those who were there in 1961! Please contact Margaret Anne Low, Moderator, Northern Presbytery, via the Presbytery office administrator@northpres.org.nz
